It’s Monday. This prompt was from Saturday. It’s been sitting in my inbox since then, right underneath the email from Robin saying that 40D&40W is a practice, not homework.
*Yeah, but it’s a Lenten practice. That means I have to do it. I said I would do it. I told God I would do it. If I don’t do it, I’m breaking my word.*
But God doesn’t need us to feed Him dinner [an obscure, maybe not-entirely-correct reference to Psalm 50], so God doesn’t need me to write Him a writing prompt.
I do feel a bit guilty for not doing it on Saturday, but I’ve reconciled that. I think Robin’s reminder – and the prompt itself – are indications that that’s okay. What is it a time to keep, huh? And what is it a time to throw away? It’s the time to throw away just going through motions, and to keep on moving forward anyway.
